Every year, countries like Malawi lose nearly half of all their food due to lack of refrigeration, food storage, and processing which is attributed to a lack of energy. We have created the most innovative refrigerated containers that run on minimal solar power. We have deployed many off-grid refrigerated containers and walk-in cold rooms for Practical Action, Malawi Fruits, University of Strathclyde and Community Energy Malawi. Keeping the refrigerator running, at a constant temperature means fresh, healthy food for farmers and families.

In this day and age, having computer skills and web access is a vital part of education and work training. Computers and tablets require uninterrupted power. We have powered computer labs for several schools located in remote areas of northern Malawi.

Our waterproof and securely housed systems are portable.
Some villages, trading centers, and schools are located in remote, hard to reach areas along dusty or muddy, steep, and winding roads. These are not the roads a long semi truck/ lorry or crane can easily traverse. To address this problem we pre-build portable, boxed systems that can be put in the back of a pickup truck for quick and easy transportation. They are light enough for a few strong people to lift and carry. What’s more, they are modular, so we can add solar capacity and batteries as your needs grow.
Electricity brings jobs which increase standards of living.
Village life starts at the kitchen table. At the heart of cooking a delicious meal, lighting the room to enjoy each other’s company, and powering some music, is electricity. We create central mini grids to connect each house, with SteamaCo Pay-As-You-Go meters, so that villagers don’t need to pre-pay for the equipment and hardware. They pay as they use electricity, making this an affordable opt-in experience.

Many of our projects are focused on increasing the productivity of female farmer co-operatives, lighting girls’ dormitories, training female solar technicians and giving equal access to women seeking entrepreneurial opportunities – all of which raise the standard of living for themselves and their families.

Entrepreneurs with a desire to start their own businesses need access to electricity. For incubators to raise chickens and for barbers, welders, tailors, wood workers and brick makers – the list goes on. We have provided power in off grid locations to enable entrepreneurs to start their own businesses, follow their dreams and raise their families’ incomes.

Many African students and teachers face daily challenges. Among them are regular and prolonged power outages that are disruptive for training centers that are tied to the national grid. And remote training centers without access to power lack the ability to have computer labs at all or connect to the internet. AMG’s on and off grid solar systems overcome these obstacles and give everyone the means to teach and learn at an accelerated pace.
